reset using tiny pinhole doesn't reset kidz matrixpad z1

Help, it's a grandson christmas gift. I set it up using my gmail account for parental consent. Now I want to change it to his fathers. Vankyo told me to reset. I've used a straightened small paper clip but the only thing that happens is screen goes black and system powers off (I think ) I let it sit that way for long time but no result. When I power back on it's the same as I left it. It never resets. HELP

settings---system---advanced---Reset options---erase all data(factory reset).
