Cinemango 100 - quiet output sound via HDMI

We have tried a few variations of sources and adapters, and all the ways we try, still the HDMI sound out to our soundbar is fairly quiet. We get much louder sound VIA 3.5MM plug. But the HDMI from my phone or laptop to the projector and to the soundbar is fairly quiet. Any tips or help ? Thanks - the soundbar is a Polk Magnify mini.
